Jamestown RI Community Chorus

Great Choral Singing Since 1949

Did you know the Recreation Center was built as a USO Hall?

Our December 14 concert takes place in a venue now known as the Jamestown Recreation Center, that was built as a USO Hall during World War II. This makes it a fitting venue for our “1943 Radio Broadcast”!

“USO” stands for “United Service Agencies”, and originally referred to groups such as the YMCA and YWCA that worked to boost the spirits and morale of the troops.  A non-profit, non-governmental organization, the USO still exists, and works around the world to lift the spirits of men and women in uniform and their families.

Click here to see a 2010 Jamestown Press story about a Jamestown resident who helped to build the Recreation Center.

We hope you will join us on December 14!

Choral Arts New England

Many thanks to Choral Arts New England for the emergency grant the chorus received to help pay for our wonderful 2020 Virtual Holiday Concert. CANE awarded twenty such grants to help with choral groups all over New England. Nearly sixty groups applied for the grant which connotes the value of choral singing in the larger community. We deeply appreciate their support.
