Jamestown RI Community Chorus

Great Choral Singing Since 1949


The Jamestown Community Chorus is offering its 12th annual award of $500 to encourage musical interests among Jamestown residents, student or adult, who are active in the Jamestown music community.  It can be used for music-related instructional materials, lessons, workshops,  camps, undergraduate education, instruments and/or other expenses directly related to musical development. The award is made possible through the generous support of friends of the chorus, merchants in Jamestown and surrounding communities, and chorus members.

Deadline:  Saturday April 14, 2018.

Applicants must:

1.)  Be a Jamestown resident, a student (6th grade and up) or an adult, who participates in school music groups, Jamestown music or theater community

2.)  Use the award within one year for music-related expenses

3.)  Complete the application process below

4.)  Be able to attend JCC’s spring concert, Sat. May 5th  at 4 PM  or Sun. May 6th at 3 PM, 2018 for the award presentation and to perform briefly at that concert.

5.)   Be able to perform briefly at the 2018 spring concert or a future Jamestown Community Talent show or other Community Chorus fundraising event

6.)  Chorus members and their families, members (and families) of the JCC Board and Music Award Committee, as well as, previous winners are not eligible for this award

To apply, please provide the following information and send to:  Music Award, Jamestown Community Chorus, PO Box 602, Jamestown RI 02835.  Applications must be postmarked by Saturday April 14, 2018.

1.)  Your name, address and phone

2.)  Name of school and grade if you are a student

3.)  A letter of reference from someone other than your immediate family

4.)  An essay (Max. 2 pages) that describes your musical background, specific information on how you will use the award and how the award will further your musical interests.

5.)  Sign and date (if under 18 years, parent or guardian must sign as well.)
