Jamestown RI Community Chorus

Great Choral Singing Since 1949

The Jamestown Community Chorus is very proud to announce the winner of this year’s Music Award: Layne O’Connell of Jamestown. As a student at Lawn
School, Layne mastered the bass clarinet and also served as the Band President in both the 7th and 8th Grade. While a student at North Kingstown High School, Layne earned First Chair in the Symphonic Band, placed in All State and Southern New England National Bands, played in
the pit orchestra for the school’s productions of “Les Miserables” and “Mary Poppins,” and achieved membership in the RI Youth Philharmonic and Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Recently, Layne was one of 15 entrants selected for the conducting class at Ingenium Academy in Winchester, England.

Congratulations Layne!

Choral Arts New England

Many thanks to Choral Arts New England for the emergency grant the chorus received to help pay for our wonderful 2020 Virtual Holiday Concert. CANE awarded twenty such grants to help with choral groups all over New England. Nearly sixty groups applied for the grant which connotes the value of choral singing in the larger community. We deeply appreciate their support.
