Jamestown RI Community Chorus

Celebrating 76 Years! 1949-2025!

Chorus History Discussion

The Jamestown Community Chorus is celebrating its 75th anniversary this fall through a series of concerts, presentations and special events. Chorus director B.J. Whitehouse will present a discussion based on the history of the chorus from 1949 until the present. There will be photos, video and audio examples from the chorus’ past that has been a part of the Jamestown community for seventy-five years.

The chorus began as an all-women’s group, The Jamestown Choral Group, led by Rita Murray. The group was part of a women’s club, the E.T.C., or the Exchange of Topics and Crafts Club in the 1940s and 1950s. Men joined in 1953 and the chorus has been singing, with a few gaps, ever since.

The presentation is at 2PM on Saturday, November 2 and is free and open to the public at the Jamestown Library. For further information check the website at http://www.jamestownchorus.com or call 401-787-4487 or email cantabile50@gmail.com
