The Everybody will present a concert on Saturday, July 18 entitled “Songs of Dissent.” Protest songs have been part of our 250 years since the beginning. “Yankee Doodle” and “Free America” were songs sung in 1776 that promoted the idea of a free and independent nation.
Union songs, civil rights, wars, government action and inaction have often been sung by people in a sense of solidarity. On July 18, the Everybody Chorus will provide a palate of such songs.
Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan are just a few of the singers presented in the program. You’ll songs from many eras of American history. There are songs from the 1950’s-60s civil rights movement all the way to the present day.
Admission is free but we will accept free-will donations to help support the non-profit Doctors without Borders.
