If you like to sing we have two different choruses you may choose from.
The Jamestown Community Chorus has been around since 1949. We sing standard (usually) four-part choral music-soprano, alto, tenor and bass. You don’t have to be able to read music and we provide rehearsal recordings that you can study at home. Members must pay for dues, the cost of music and two concert tickets. We rehearse for two hours on Monday evenings at Jamestown’s Central Baptist Church. We have two concerts per year-one in December and another in May. The presentation is a tad formal and everyone is expected to conform to a concert ‘dress code.’
The Everybody Chorus started in 2017 as an opportunity for singers who may be a little intimidated by four-part choral music. We get together (about) three times per year on Saturday mornings for one hour rehearsals at the Jamestown Recreation Center. The EChorus is more relaxed than the J.C.C. and, as the name implies, everybody (all ages, experience levels, etc.) is welcome to sing with us. The music is much lighter and we, usually, sing songs around a theme. You are invited to bring along an instrument. We have sung about songs of travel, kindness, the 60’s and the weather. We are starting a program about dreams! The only charge is $2-3 for music books. All of the money we raise is donated to charitable organizations.
What’s the same?
The director of both is B.J. Whitehouse.
We love to sing!
