The Jamestown Community Chorus presented its spring concerts to great acclaim. The musical program was an eclectic blend or sorrow and joy. The audiences enjoyed the seriousness and gravitas as well as the lighter selections. The program was intended to reflect the joys and sorrows of life.
The program includes Howard Hanson’s “Song of Democracy” which is a difficult piece for any ensemble and the J.C.C. stepped up to the plate. Special recognition goes to accompanist Dawn Chung for playing the orchestral reduction flawlessly!
In addition to works by Brahms, Mozart and Purcell the chorus small ensembles sang “Here Comes the Sun” by George Harrison, “Bring Me Little Water, Silvy” by Huddy Ledbetter (arranged by Moira Smiley) and works by Stephen Foster and Daniel Moe.
